Meet Bryan Cowden: The guy behind "The Running Nerd"
Yes, that's me pictured on the left. I had just placed 3rd overall in my very first timed road race. It was a 10km run in Chatham, Ontario. This day, April 21, 2013, just 6 days after the Boston bombings, kick started my running career and ignited a passion for this sport outweighting my love of baseball. Don't worry baseball friends, I'm still a big fan.

I am a 30-something, hard-working, career focused male from Southwestern Ontario. I run because it feels good. I run because I want to stay healthy. I run to keep my youth. (Hey, I'm still getting ID'd)

When I'm not running, I love to relax by reading a good book or magazine. I tend to focus on autobiographies, and biographies of people who I believe are successful in their field. This ranges from sports figures, businesspersons, TV personalities and "normal" everyday people who overcame adversity. I can also be a sucker for Stephen King, John Grisham and whatever NY Bestseller is hot at the time.

Yes ladies, at the time of this entry (May 2016), I am single. I'm still trying to find Miss Right. I am a picky little bugger.

But enough about me. This blog is designed to tell you about everything I love so you'll get to know me really well through my blog posts. It's more than running. I will write about whatever is on my mind. Life is short and I hope to motivate you to get out there a live!

This picture on the bottom is a yearbook clipping from my high school graduating year. Even at 18-years old I understood that you need to live life to its fullest. Friends and family close to me know that I'm not perfect...even I need a push of encouragement now and then. My goal of this site is to encourage you to overcome whatever fear, hesitaion, excuse, or whatever stops you from doing what you really want to do.

Enjoy!
